ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

SEED is an acronym for sustainable education and enterprise development. It is a trust, non profit making organization whose principle objective is to identify underprivileged children and support their education needs. The organization also offer support to communities including parents/guardians of the sponsored children in the area of small enterprise development. SEED acquired a legal status as a Trust in 2008 and has the mandate to carry out numerous development activities as stipulated in the objectives. SEED aims to help people living in poverty access skills and attitudes that will empower them to make changes in their lives and to have a positive socio-economic impact in their community.


VISION
The vision for which the Organization was established is to see a socially and economically empowered Kenyan Community with adequate and relevant skills to participate equally on matters pertaining to development and create wealth to lead their own destiny.

MISSION
Sustainable Education and enterprise development herein also referred to as SEED is a Trust Organization whose Mission is to promote access to education for the disadvantaged children within the society and to facilitate micro enterprise development.

 

GOAL
SEED’s main goal is to build capacities of families and communities through education, income generation and life skills for a better livelihood. The core values of SEED include equal opportunity for all, integrity and respect for life.

PRODUCTS AND SERVICES
SEED addresses the needs of clients in two key areas. These include supporting the education needs of needy and  deserving children in the target area. Only one child is supported in a family. The respective family head is then empowered through enterprise development in order to offer the rest a chance.

STRUCTURE OF THE ORGANIZATION
The organization’s board consists of seven members; three of them Trustees. One of the trustees is the Managing Trustee who heads the implementing staff in three key areas namely finance, entrepreneurship development and community network.

INSTITUTIONAL CAPACITY BUILDING

SEED puts emphasis on networking with other development partners.  Training for staff is enhanced in order to improve their skills and thereby ensure effectiveness and efficiency in the service delivery process.
